THE OH! ZONE

Musical comedy sisters Nicola and Rosie Dempsey – aka Flo & Joan – talk us through their favourite TV and current listening habits

-

We’re watching…

Nicola & Rosie: Life fly by in a beautiful tornado. And on telly it’s Euphoria, Cheer, Rupaul’s Drag Race, And Just Like That... and Shameless.

The funniest person on TV is… Nicola & Rosie: First place: The White Lotus’s Jennifer Coolidge. Runner-up: Schitt Creek’s

Moira Rose (Catherine O’hara).

Our guilty TV pleasure is… Nicola & Rosie: We don’t feel guilty about the TV we watch, it keeps us alive and thriving.

The artists we’re listening to are…

Nicola: Meat Loaf. And Griff. A classic combo.

Rosie: DJ Honey Dijon’s new song and Burt Bacharach.

The best film ever made is… Nicola & Rosie: The Witches.

It made us not scared of mice – because what if it’s actually a child?! And Anjelica Huston is perfection in everything.

Also, a shout-out to Barb &

Star Go To Vista Del Mar, which is the best film of this century.

Our karaoke track is… Nicola: Silence.

Rosie: Dancing Queen, shouted from a high table across a less-than-busy bar on a very sober night.

We’re currently reading… Nicola: Windswept And Interesting by Billy Connolly.

Rosie: I’m reading [Pam & Tommy actor] Nick Offerman’s book Where The Deer And The Antelope Play. Nice guy, even nicer book.

The podcast we can’t live without is… Nicola: I can live without podcasts. I think we could all live without podcasts if we had to. Take away my crisps, though, and I’d have a horrible time. I guess that’s not an answer to this question, but it’s a fact about me nonetheless.

Rosie: But if we had to choose one, then Desert Island Discs is bulletproof.

The show we could watch over and over is…

Nicola: TV show – 30 Rock.

Vegas show – Bette Midler: The Showgirl Must Go On. Circus show – Cottle And Austen’s Circus, 1997.

Rosie: Better Things.

The audiences of Sweet Release can expect…

Nicola & Rosie: A big mix of funny songs, us chatting like normal not-sweaty humans, fire cannons and wind machines (budget depending). Come along, you’ll have a good time.
