sloping off for family fun

-

We had a brilliant time skiing for half term. We stayed at a resort called Borovets, in Bulgaria, and it was unexpectedly incredible! I say unexpectedly because we were supposed to go to France, but it was a bit of a nightmare with all the requirements. As of recently, if you’re 16 and over you have to be double vaccinated to visit France, but Junior was only single vaccinated and, at the time, he was not eligible for his second.

Things happen for a reason, though, because we absolutely loved it in Bulgaria and would definitely go back. We did everything from skiing and snowmobiling to horse riding in the snow, which the girls really loved. All the kids had the time of their lives.

Princess and Junior were flying around on their skis – they’re really good now. Theo has been getting lessons and absolutely loving it. When we went skiing last time, he would do an hour and have a meltdown, but now you can’t get him off the slopes. It was Valentine’s Day while we were away and, although we had all the children, we still managed to thoroughly enjoy it. Valentine’s for us is all about time together. We got each other a few little bits but the most special for me was the card Emily got me. As part of this beautiful card was hidden 12 things you love about your partner and she hid each one in different locations, and I had to find them. It was very sweet, although I thought it would have been easier for her to find 12 things she didn’t like! Over time, we’ve both realised that Valentine’s Day is just as special when you share it with your family.
