Youngsters snap up awards
SARA Griffins and Haydon Hiscock snapped up prizes in the Newbury Weekly News Young Photographer competition this year.
Sara, who is in Year 6 at John Rankin School, won the Junior award and Haydon, a Year 8 pupil at Trinity School, took the Senior vote.
The pair collected their prizes of a £75 Amazon vouchers from the NWN office in Faraday Road on Tuesday.
There were more than 140 entries for this year’s Young Photographer competition, on the theme of Our Planet.
Competition was fierce, with more than 300 readers votes received for both categories.
NWN photographer Phil Cannings said: “This year’s standard of work has been excellent.”
