Topical cheer for 2020 Mayor’s Christmas card
Doctor’s witty scene wins design competition
THE winner of the mayor of Newbury’s Christmas card competition has been chosen. Twenty-nine entries were received across all age categories and the winning design was by Sarah Logan, who won the adult category of the competition. We have printed all the colourful entries here for everyone to enjoy.
The annual mayoral card is sent to those the mayor has worked closely with during their time in office, as well as charities, organisations, twin towns and civic dignitaries. This year mayor of Newbury Elizabeth O’Keeffe joined forces with the Newbury Weekly News in search of a winning design for a card that captured the spirit of both Newbury and Christmas.
Sarah is a local doctor who has been working throughout the pandemic. She said Newbury was very special to her, having moved to the area 10 years ago, and designing the card had been an opportunity to be creative outside her work.
The card reflects the challenges Newbury residents face this Christmas, with a dash of topical humour in the Christmas scene.

Sarah’s design will be produced as this year’s mayoral Christmas card and will be sent to more than 200 individuals and organisations. Sophie Hyde, aged seven, of Newbury, was chosen as winner of the junior category and receives a £25 Hobbycraft voucher as a prize.
