Six of the best for Woolton Hill

-

WOOLTON Hill Argyle cruised to their first league win of the season as they beat The Mill House 6-1 in the Newbury Sunday League Premier Division.

Rhys Williams netted the opening goal for the home side, smashing his effort into the roof of the net after he was left unmarked inside the penalty area from a corner.

Argyle quickly doubled their lead shortly after as Evan Bailes flicked his shot past the goalkeeper to score on his return to the squad.

It was soon 3-0 as Steve Burrows rounded the keeper to fire into the empty net after he broke forward on goal.

Woolton Hill found a fourth before the break when Liam Headd volleyed the ball into the bottom corner to give his side a healthy lead at half-time.

Mill House did find a way back into the game when they converted a penalty, but they were undone once more as Sam Mulvey got on the end of a cross from Archie Dyson to restore their four-goal advantage.

Jamie Wallin added his name to the scoresheet to once more extend his side’s lead as Woolton Hill picked up their first victory of the season.

Elsewhere, Bucklebury scored in added time to secure a 1-0 win over Woolhampton Cricket and earn their third win of the season.

Parklife Rovers inflicted a first defeat of the season for OLA Prestige with a 4-1 home victory.

Shawn Foster scored a brace the hosts, while Jared Ashworth and Josh Matthew were also on the scoresheet.

In Division 1, Diamond and Thatcham Tornadoes remain the only unbeaten sides this season.

Diamond, who lead the division on goal difference, edged to a 3-2 win over Newbury Bootleggers, while Tornadoes secured a 2-0 victory over NWX FC.

In the other games, Berkshire Wanderers beat Cold Ash 3-2, Furze Bush and Brimpton Rangers played out a 1-1 draw and Black Horse beat Taste of England 3-1.
