Residents can save on energy bills

-

RESIDENTS across the district are using a council service to make savings, with a total of £691,213 of deductions in energy bills authorised so far.

More than 10,000 households are participating in the West Berkshire Energy Switch scheme, which is free and without obligation.

Energy Switch ‘auctions’, linking residents to alternative energy deals, are being held in

May and October.

On average, those who signed up for the last auction in February saved around £270.

Applications for the next Energy Switch open on March 30, with a special ‘reverse auction’ planned for May 18.

Participants are to receive offers from May 31.

West Berkshire Council’s executive member for the environment Steve Ardagh-Walter said: “This is a great opportunity to not only check your energy bills to see if you can make savings and fix for the year ahead, but also to reduce carbon by signing up for a renewable electricity tariff. “Don’t miss out.

“Tell friends and family about the scheme too as more registrations help to provide a cheaper tariff.”
