Shoplifter admits £1,400 haul
A SERIAL shoplifter has admitted stealing goods worth £1,406 from a single Newbury supermarket.
The mother, who has previous convictions for more than 20 similar offences, admitted nine offences of theft in her latest spree.
In the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, March 23, was Beverley Fiona Emery.
In each of the latest offences the 37year-old, who has also been known by the surnames Head and Evans, repeatedly targeted Sainsbury’s in Newbury between August 26 and October 11 last year.
Ms Emery, of Grange Court, off Boundary Road, Newbury, further admitted breaching a conditional discharge imposed by the same court on January 16 last year for another offence of shoplifting.
Magistrates ordered pre-sentence reports, indicating that they were not considering sending Ms Emery back to prison – she has previously been jailed for an offence of ‘county lines’ drug dealing – but were instead considering a community-based penalty.
Ms Emery was meanwhile released on unconditional bail.
