Smarten Up the town

-

The organisation is looking for more volunteers to join the team.

Pictured (right) at work are “three of our most dedicated volunteers”, according to manager John Willmott – from left, Susan Mayes, Nicola Wood and Catherine Fitsell.

But, as the workload increases, more helpers would be welcome.

Mr Willmott said: “We now have some 25 planters and tubs to maintain.

“We continue to work closely with Hungerford Town Council to co-ordinate the town’s floral displays and we’re immensely grateful to the council for its ongoing support and funding, as they paid for the water bowser and

M&P Hardware provided the stickers.”

The Smarten Up Hungerford initiative was launched in August, 2018 and Mr Willmott said at the time: “Hungerford is a beautiful and historic town and it is incumbent on all of us to keep it that way.

“There are always maintenance jobs that need doing and, while the local authority may be assumed to have these all in hand, that is not realistic and so we must learn to help our beautiful town to look after itself.”

Anyone who can volunteer or help with a donation can contact the team via email at smartenuphungerford@ gmail.com

Alternatively, Mr Willmott can be reached via telephone on 07961 339377.
