Bob’s grand after winning £1,000 prize

-

A LUCKY Woolton Hill man is gearing up to spend the £1,000 he won in a prize draw this week – and all for taking his car in for a checkup.

Bob Cleaver attended the live money bags prize draw at Formula One Autocentres in Stratford-upon-Avon, where he had a one in 250 chance of picking out the top prize of £50,000.

Father-of-two Mr Cleaver entered the competition after purchasing new tyres for his car earlier this year.

He was joined by four other contestants from around England who were all in with a chance of ‘picking out’ the top prize of £50,000.

He chose one of 250 unmarked money bags at the event, and drew out one containing £1,000.

Mr Cleaver, who is semi-retired from working in the motor trade, said: “I’m not sure what I’m going to do with the money. My daughter has just bought a house so I might try and help her, or go shopping with the wife.”

Formula One Autocentres said it was pleased with the response to the competition.

Digital director Simon Jennings said: “We are thrilled to have run the event and to see so many happy faces as they picked out their winning bag.

“We haven’t ever run a competition quite like this before and we have had so many customers come to us and say they have loved that we have.

“These last 18 months have been tough for us all and we really want our customers to feel valued and appreciated for their loyalty and trusting us with their vehicles. This was our chance to give something back and it was a great day.”

The company has been running since 1969 and has more than 120 centres across England, including one in Hambridge Road, Newbury.
