Newbury get support from new sponsors

-

NEWBURY FC have a new shirt sponsor who will support the club for the next few seasons.

JB Sales Ltd, a company that specialises in supplying survey and safety equipment across the UK, has agreed to sponsor the Hellenic League club.

The independent distributor, which is in the process of opening a depot in Basingstoke, saw the opportunity become available when its technical sales specialist joined the football club.

Janine Blackburn, the director of JB Sales Ltd, said: “Hopefully this is the start of a long and prosperous relationship between Newbury FC and JB Sales.

“We are looking forward to seeing the progress the team makes over the coming seasons.”

Newbury, who play in the Hellenic League Division 2 South, were without a game over the weekend as their scheduled game with Marlborough Town Dev was postponed.

Their next game is at home to Swindon Supermarine Dev on Saturday.

Hungerford Town Swifts and Kintbury Rangers both had their games against Wantage Town Dev and Faringdon Town postponed due to the weather.

However, Letcombe played Fairford Town Res and secured a 4-2 home victory to lift them up to seventh in the table.

Letcombe had the perfect start with a goal after seven minutes when Dan Pear’s free-kick beat Grant Davies in goal.

Fairford equalised when the Letcombe defence gave the ball away, and Matt Jones took the opportunity clinically.

Back came Letcombe and skipper Josh Fowler restored the lead with a 35-yard screamer into the top corner, and he increased the lead with a header from a Chad Abrams cross.

Letcombe went further ahead when Pear was fouled, and he converted the resulting penalty.

Diagio Mazzella scored for Fairford on the hour mark, but that proved to be the final goal of the game.

The spirit in the Letcombe camp is high after they beat Wantage Town Dev 3-1 in the Faringdon Memorial Cup.

This weekend, Letcombe travel to play Shrivenham Dev in the Hellenic League, while Kintbury and Hungerford Town Swifts are both at home.

Kintbury host Fairford Town Res, while Swifts entertain Highworth Town Res.
