Prestige beat rivals to progress in the cup

Several Newbury teams are into round two of the Berks & Bucks cup

OLA Prestige marched into the second round of the Berks & Bucks after they beat Taste of England 3-1 at Henwick.

Travis Radbourne, Sam Ebdon and Ben Cookson all scored for OLA as they brushed aside their Newbury Sunday League rivals.

Paggies Bar are also into the second round after they beat Finchampst­ead Sunday 7-2 away from home.

Terry Patton and Danny Langford both scored braces for the visitors, while Zach Tull, Brad Pagliaroli and Josh Keen were also on the scoresheet.

Cottage Inn are also into the hat for the second round as they beat Bracknell side William Twigg on penalties.

Toby Bridges, Matt Rowell and Reece Randall scored in normal time as the game ended 3-3.

After Cottage keeper Dan Stevens was sent off, Bridges went in goal for the shootout and saved four spot-kicks for his side as the won 3-2 on penalties. Elsewhere, Thatcham Tornadoes suffered a 5-1 home defeat in the opening round at the hands of Twyford Comets.

There were a number of Division 1 games over the weekend.

NWX FC are still yet to drop points as they beat Furze Bush 4-3, while Berkshire Wanderers are hot on their tales at the top after they beat Brimpton Rangers 3-2.

The White Hart are the only other team yet to lose as they beat Newbury Bootlegger­s 9-1, while Cold Ash beat AFC Bedwyn 4-1 and Elm Park were 3-1 winners at home to Black Horse.

The Lambourn Cup gets under way this weekend, with four teams in action.

Woolton Hill Argyle travel to Diamond, while OLA Prestige face Legacy.

In the Vic French Cup, AFC Bedwyn host Furze Bush, while Cold Ash come up against NWX FC.
