Grounds assistant volunteer – Ref: NY2269

Join a cricket club at the heart of the local community by becoming a grounds maintenanc­e volunteer.

The role will involve assisting with tasks such as grass cutting, strimming, line marking, rolling, maintenanc­e of artificial nets, offseason preparatio­n, boundary rope and sight screen placement.

Tools and training will be provided,and the role would suit a reliable cricket lover with an eye for detail.

Time commitment is flexible, but could be a couple of afternoons a week.

Handybus drivers – Ref: NY109

Volunteer Centre West Berkshire will soon be taking delivery of a new Handybus and starting a dial-a-ride service for older people in Newbury and Thatcham.

We are looking for volunteers to drive the bus for four hours a week.

Drivers will receive good training and will be joining a band of volunteers that love assisting older people.

Volunteers must be 25 or over with a clean UK licence and will ideally be living in Newbury or Thatcham.

Online moderator – Ref: NY2268

An online platform provides help and support to people in Berkshire who are experienci­ng mental health problems.

The initiative provides a safe and anonymous environmen­t where people can receive support and help others.

Volunteer moderators are required, who will read and respond to posts, send virtual presents to those using the service and follow an escalation policy if posts cause concern.

Full training and regular supervisio­n provided. Would suit friendly and empathetic volunteers with experience of social media platforms.

Time commitment is flexible to suit you, with the service running 24/7.

Christmas till assistants – Ref: NY2270

If you have some time to spare in the run-up to Christmas, volunteer as a till assistant with a Newbury charity shop that raises funds to reduce poverty and inequality.

Time commitment 4-8 hours a week, can be very flexible. Would suit reliable volunteers willing to learn new skills and work as part of a team.

Contribute to the fundraisin­g efforts of an internatio­nal charity, while meeting others and learning new skills.

Brownie, Guide and Rainbow volunteers – Ref: NY348

Inspire girls and young women in Newbury and have fun in the process.

Leaders and helpers are needed. As unit leader, you’ll run the unit, lead a volunteer team and plan and deliver a programme of awesome activities.

If you’re enthusiast­ic about giving girls opportunit­ies for fun, friendship, challenge and adventure, you’ll make a perfect unit helper. You’ll be key in providing the extra help needed, plus you’ll get to know the girls and other volunteers and be part of the Girlguidin­g community.

Fundraisin­g events volunteer – Ref: NY2263

A charity that supports children with disabiliti­es and their families is looking for help at their fundraisin­g events – attending and supporting the events, assisting with setting up, greeting and registerin­g guests, supporting with fundraisin­g during the event and helping with clearing down.

Would suit positive and enthusiast­ic volunteers with good communicat­ion skills.
