Laundry firm hails its heroes

-

NEWBURY commercial laundry equipment specialist WASHCO has celebrated unsung care and nursing home laundry heroes with the announcement of the winners of its 2021 Love Laundry Awards at this year’s Care Show.

WASHCO, based in Arnhem Road, Bone Lane, has supported care and nursing homes through the pandemic so knows how hard care teams have been working to keep their residents and colleagues safe.

To recognise this, it set up the Love Laundry Awards.

After receiving lots of inspiring nominations for the individual and team categories, the finalists were invited to the Care Show 2021, where the winners received top prizes.

The individual award winner was Annmarie Bradshaw from Excelcare’s Etheldred House in Cambridge, who will receive a domestic Miele washing machine for her own home, fully installed courtesy of WASHCO’s in-house team.

She said: “I feel so lucky and grateful to be nominated and overwhelmed to have won the award.

“The experience on the day was lovely and I am grateful to WASHCO for recognising people working in this field.

Even though the word ‘thank you’ sounds so insignificant, I really do mean it – thank you WASHCO!”

Winning the Team award was Cote Street Laundry Team from St Monica Trust, Bristol, who won a Sonos speaker system for their laundry area.

Commenting on the Love Laundry Awards, WASHCO marketing manager Emily Stoten said; “It’s been brilliant to hear so many inspirational stories and celebrate those who have gone above and beyond.

“We’re looking forward to keeping the awards going in 2022 as our way of saying thank you.”
