Collaboration is a marriage made in heaven

-

THE Athena Network is all about collaboration and women supporting other women in business and that is just what happened recently for two members in the West Berkshire region.

Harriet Havelin, of Peacock and Flamingo events, and Colline Watts, of Colline’s Kitchen, worked alongside each other to ensure the perfect day went to plan for a local Bucklebury couple.

Peacock and Flamingo events offers a wedding planning and support service to couples embarking on the very often stressful job of planning and coordinating their dream wedding, putting the finer details together to make the day one to remember.

Ms Watts had been working with the couple, whose original wedding plans had been scuppered by the lockdown, so when they rearranged the date, they decided they wanted an intimate event with very special catering.

Ms Watts would create the amazing food and manage the catering team on the day, leaving Ms Havelin to take care of everything else, including ensuring the flower arrangements – put together by the mother of the bride – were in the correct place, the band arrived, rehearsed and were

clear of the marquee ahead of the guests arriving, prepping and managing the bar and even flipping the garden décor from day to night, laying out lanterns and seating for guests to enjoy the cocktail stations.

Every little detail was planned and managed throughout the day.

Connections with other suppliers and businesses are really key to a managing a special event such as a wedding, but in reality all businesses collaborate with other businesses, whether it is a photographer, designer or accountant.

Having ‘go-to’ professionals is really important for every business and being part of a network like Athena makes this so easy.

“Our members,” said regional director Caroline Snowdon, “have a vast network of other businesswomen they can collaborate with.

“I can guarantee that someone will always have the answer or can make the referral.

“It really does work for our members.”
