Well known town planning consultant retires

-

Steven Smallman retired this month after more than 40 years as a planning consultant working throughout the Central Southern England area.

“I have been privileged to work with some brilliant clients and colleagues, on a wide range of

interesting, often challenging projects.

The planning system and property market is more complex and harder to navigate than ever, but I

leave Pro Vision in good hands”.

Over 40 guests gathered at the Donnington Valley Hotel recently to mark his retirement and celebrate his career, which included more than 20

years as Partner of Newbury based property advisors Dreawett Neate, and latterly nearly a decade as Director of Winchester based Planning and Architectural practice Pro Vision, including a period as Managing Director.

Steven has established a large and loyal client base, from private individuals to country estates, regional businesses and house builders, with a reputation for trusted strategic advice, urban design and property expertise backed up by his dual professional qualifications as chartered town planner and chartered surveyor.

Steven now turns his attention to exploring his interest in painting and the great outdoors, including an ambition to complete the South West Coast path.

Reflecting on his career, Steven said “It is difficult to single out specific

highlights, as there have been many. I have been privileged to work with some brilliant clients and colleagues, on a wide range of interesting, often challenging projects. The planning system and property market is more complex and harder to navigate than ever, but I leave Pro Vision in good hands, led by directors James Iles and

Katherine Miles, and with a strong reputation in the region”.

Director of Pro Vision, James Iles, said: “We are sad to see Steven retire but wish him all the best knowing he has many new adventures in mind! He has been a major influence on the growth and evolution of Pro Vision, having established many strong client relationships and building-up our committed, inter-disciplinary team, and now employee-owned business. He is well known throughout the region, having had a hand in so many local developments, and retires with tremendous respect within the business and throughout the profession”.
