THE village of Aldermasto­n has put on a Nativity Play in the parish church of St Mary the Virgin since 1957. The play is an adaptation of eight or nine plays from the 400-year-old York Mystery Cycle plays that tell the story of the first Christmas. Lantern procession

THE Festival of Light returns to Newbury in its traditiona­l format on December 12 at 6pm, inviting participan­ts of all ages to walk together with candlelit lanterns illuminati­ng the winter night. Transformi­ng Newbury town centre into a twinkling wonderland, the procession will travel along Northbrook Street before arriving in the Market Place with live music and festive atmosphere.
