OLA hit three as they look up the division
OLA earned their second win of the season as they beat Woolton Hill Argyle 3-1 in the Newbury Sunday League Premier Division.
Ben Cookson netted a brace for the home side, including a superb strike from long distance, while Reece Randall was also on the scoresheet.
Harry Monger did pull a goal back for Argyle to make the score 3-1 and several good saves from OLA keeper James Wilder saw the hosts held on for the three points.
As a result, they moved level on points with their opponents and they have two games in hand.
Elsewhere in the division, leaders Bucklebury secured another win as they beat AFC Hermitage 4-1.
Jack Fisher scored for Hermitage, but a Jake Allan hattrick and a Jesse Bowers goal saw Bucklebury take all three points.
In Division 1, NWX FC maintained their three-point lead at the top of the table after a 7-0 win over Furze Bush Inn.
Elsewhere, Cold Ash kept up their chase on the leaders as they beat AFC Bedwyn 2-1, while The White Hart Barbarians secured a 4-0 win over Newbury Bootleggers.
In the other games, Brimpton Rangers moved third after a 5-4 win over Berkshire Wanderers and Elm Park Athletic beat Black Horse 3-2.
Paggies Bar have moved into the quarter-finals of the Berks & Bucks Sunday Cup after a 1-0 win over Woodley.
With the game at 0-0 with minutes remaining, it looked like a penalty shootout was going to be required, but Paggies were awarded a late penalty kick after a foul in the box.
Terry Patton held his nerve to slot the ball into the bottom right-hand corner and send Paggies into the next round, where they will face either Burghfield or FC Bentons at home.
The in-form Premier Division side will play that clash on January 9.
There is just one round of league fixtures in the Sunday
League before Christmas.
