Anesco is going Dutch to power up expansion plans
Aldermaston firm to launch first subsidiary outside UK in the Netherlands
ALDERMASTON-BASED renewables expert Anesco is powering up its international expansion plans with the launch of its first subsidiary outside the UK, Anesco Netherlands.
Wouter Beerten joins the company as director of Anesco Netherlands and will head up the business from its newly-opened Amsterdam office.
Anesco chief executive Mark Futyan said: “Opening our first office outside the UK is a milestone moment for us and represents the start of a strategic European expansion programme in the next few years.
“The Netherlands is where we broke ground on our first projects outside of the UK, so it’s a fitting location to begin that journey and I’m delighted to have Wouter on board, to lead on opportunities in this new market.
“Our end-to-end capabilities and strong track record means we are well placed to work with investors across Europe, to accelerate their renewables ambitions and the transition to net zero.”
Founded in 2010, Anesco has developed in excess of 100 solar farms and 30 battery storage facilities, while its renewables operation and maintenance arm now has more than 24,0000 renewable assets under management.
The business has increased its staff by 20 per cent over the past nine months to now employ 200 in the UK.
It anticipates growing this number by a further 20 to 30 per cent over the next two years across the UK and Europe.
Mr Beerten said: “The Netherlands presents a fantastic opportunity for Anesco, especially in relation to the increasing levels of interest being shown in utility scale battery storage technology – an area in which Anesco is highly experienced.
“The solar PV market in the Netherlands may be one of the fastest growing in the world but there is still a lot of work to do if we are to hit Government targets for decarbonising energy.”
Anesco has been working on solar projects in the Netherlands since 2020, on behalf of Shell Renewables and Energy Solutions.
In January 2022, Anesco energised a trio of solar farms for Shell.
There are a 12MWp array in Emmen, a 14MWp solar farm located near to the town of Heerenveen, in Friesland, and a 30MWp solar installation in Sas Van Gent, Zeeland.
