Thank you for making festival such a success

CONGRATULATIONS to everyone involved in presenting the 30th Hungerford Summer Festival for 2022.

We are so proud of our festival this year and, despite the economic down-turn and competing with

Her Majesty’s celebrations, the festival was a huge success.

Our amazing volunteers, who have worked all year long to bring such fascinating and entertaining events to the community, did it again.

Thank you to all our wonderful local financial supporters and Greenham Trust, without whom we could not have made this festival work.

Thank you to everyone who came to the events; drama, art, workshops, walk, talks, cookery, food, wine, exhibitions, demonstrations and music. Congratulations to Jane Elliman for winning the Hungerford Summer Festival’s Mayor’s Portrait Artist of the Year Competition.

We know this was a difficult year for everyone, but our beautiful marquee hosted many amazing events.

Particular thanks to Adam Winslet, who not only brought his amazing band on Saturday night (complete sell-out), but also looked after all the sound systems for the other events, and Sara Fricker, who totally brought the festival together, Hilary Stockwell, who booked the fabulous events, Richard Stockwell, who built and managed our website, Fare Wise Travel, who issued tickets for those not online, Jonathan Bacchus, who managed our ticket sales, Nicola, who liaised with our local organisations, Jane, who raised our supporters donations, and Jeannette, our treasurer, who kept us all on track.

Thank you also to the Newbury

Weekly News, always such support.

And a special mention to Liz Barnett. who ran all the bars and worked her socks off.

There is also an extraordinary team who come together especially for the festival, to arrange chairs, tables and tents and check tickets and to make sure the experience is delightful. You know who you are... thank you.

If you missed it this year, and I understand how many other events were taking place at the same time (shall I mention Wimbledon?), keep a place in your diary for July 2023.

It is very hard to express my gratitude for all our volunteers who have worked so hard to bring these events to our community at affordable prices.

Thank you all and see you next year!
