Property developer plans to bring 10 homes to Cold Ash
‘Greenlands’ in Collaroy Road ‘will be in keeping with the surrounding properties’
A WINCHESTER-based property developer may be bringing 10 new homes to Cold Ash if plans go ahead.
Shorewood Homes is hoping to develop 10 detached, semi-detached and terraced two-storey houses subject to planning permission.
The “traditional development” will produce homes of three or four bedrooms, landscaped to create a “mature and attractive street scene from day one”.
The development, dubbed ‘Greenlands’, is to sit on Collaroy Road and claims to be in keeping with the surrounding properties.
Shorewood Homes director Richard Wickins attended a Cold Ash Parish Council meeting in July and discussed the company’s proposal with councillors and residents.
The chamber heard that properties would have ‘good-sized gardens’ and the architectural style would be traditional.
Councillor Pete Murray advised that the first the parish council had heard about the development was complaints from residents regarding tree felling.
Residents raised a range of issues with the development with
Mr Wickens from the amount of traffic that may be generated to the fear of overdevelopment in the area.
Mr Wickins said he would discuss their concerns with Shorewood Homes.
There were also concerns with
the construction vehicles accessing the site.
Mr Wickens discussed access to the development, which was something residents raised, and he noted that it was currently from Collaroy Road.
He said new access was being considered from The Rise, but said that there were land ownership issues with this option.
Residents were advised that highways officers from West Berkshire Council had not yet been consulted, but that all traffic data had been submitted to the district council.
Other issues were raised, with councillor David Silsby asking what benefit the proposed development would bring to the parish and councillor Ivor McArdle noting that the area was a dark sky zone in regards to concerns over light pollution.
