Louise looks to expand palliative care services
NATIONAL healthcare charity Sue Ryder has appointed a new service director to lead its palliative care services in Berkshire and South Oxfordshire.
Louise Lucio, who was born and raised in Reading and lives in West Berkshire, will provide leadership for Sue Ryder Duchess of Kent Hospice in Reading and Sue Ryder Palliative Care Hub South Oxfordshire, which provide expert palliative care, advice and support to people living with life-limiting conditions.
She brings more than 20 years of experience to the role – holding senior leadership positions at various charities in the social care, housing, and homelessness sectors, including seven years as head of operational services for Launchpad Reading and two years as chief executive officer at Berkshire Vision.
Most recently she was an area director for the British Red Cross.
“I have always been passionate about supporting vulnerable people to have choice and control over their lives, and to successfully achieve and maintain independence with support within their communities,” says Louise.
“Growing up in Reading I have always been aware of Sue Ryder and the fantastic reputation it has in the local area.
“It is an honour to be given the opportunity to take on this role and I look forward to working with the dedicated teams to continue developing and expanding our services to provide more care to more people.
“In palliative care you only get one chance to get it right.”
