It’s Moore good news for Chris

CHRIS Moore won the annual Crawford Cup at West Berkshire Golf Club.

The Crawford Cup is a men’s medal competitio­n played off the championsh­ip tees that is open to players who have played to or better than their handicap in a qualifying competitio­n this year.

Moore finished with gross 95, net 70 to finish ahead of Stuart King on countback, who shot gross 89.

Countback was also required to separate the third and fourth players – Chris Ward, who shot gross 81, net 71, edging out Martyn Drewitt, who shot gross 91.

Tina Mulford (pictured) was this year’s winner of the Harris Cup, a ladies’ competitio­n in which entrants must achieve a stableford score of 17 points in weekly qualifiers throughout the year to be eligible for the final.

Mulford scored an impressive 24 points to secure the crown, two points clear of runner-up Simone Diamond and a further two ahead of Babs Collyer

in third.

Mulford won her second tournament of the week when she triumphed in the JHB Trophy, created to celebrate John Bennett’s enormous contributi­on to the club.

Mulford won the ladies’ competitio­n with 37 points, while Andy Morris was the winner of the men’s prize with 43 points.

Elsewhere, Catherine Barnard won the ladies’ monthly midweek medal, shooting gross 112, net 75 to finish ahead of Rukshi Watson, gross 102, net 80, in second and Jane Wilmore, gross 116, net 81, in third.

Kieran Watson meanwhile won the men’s midweek stableford competitio­n, scoring 37 points to finish two clear of runner-up John Loader and a further shot clear of thirdplace­d Alexander Anderson.
