NEWBURY Town progressed to the second round of the Berks & Bucks Charles Twelftree Trophy with an emphatic 8-3 win over Slough Heating Laurencians.

Jake Allan, Jesse Bowers, Luke Polding and George Armstrong all scored twice as Town proved far too good for the Thames Valley Premier League side.

Deshawn Whittaker gave the Villagers the lead 27 minutes in before a late strike from substitute James Bozarth rounded off Mortimer’s second successive win.

The Villagers travel to Chinnor this Friday night, 7.45pm kick off.

Hungerford Town Swifts bounced back from an 8-1 thrashing at the hand of Letcombe with a 5-0 win at Wantage Town Development.
