Why schools need your help

- SPONSORED EDITORIAL

Schools which need help paying for anything from a class trip to new equipment are being offered extra financial support to fulfil their wish lists.

With classroom budgets under pressure from rising costs, organisation LetsLocalise is stepping in to help teachers, staff and PTAs find the cash, resources or expertise they need to get projects off the ground or buy items their pupils need.

Its website - described as a ‘digital village’ through which state schools can post details of their urgent requirements also accepts donations from businesses and the public who want to help provide students with better resources and opportunities.

Founded by Divya and Gaurav Garg, with Reebok founder Joe Foster as its chairman,

LetsLocalise has now launched a new campaign called #RaisingAMillion – with Joe donating his time, contacts and business skills to help one million children across the UK. #RaisingAMillion is appealing for donations from individuals, communities, businesses, and even our readers, who are keen to get involved with helping teachers and schools.

Money raised through the campaign will be allocated across five categories - school meals, literacy, STEM education, music and sports and donated to schools which all feature on the website. If you know of a school and its project that fits the brief get them signed-up at www.letslocalise.co.uk arlier this year, the government announced that core schools funding will increase by £1.5 billion in 2023/24 compared to the previous year.

However, headteacher leaders warned that this increase does not take into account the “huge inflationary pressures” schools are under, especially with inflation currently running at 9.9%. Along with rocketing energy bills and increased staff costs, every state school will be feeling the pinch.

That’s where the #RaisingAMillion campaign can help out. Here’s just a few examples of what individual schools across the country are trying to raise money for on LetsLocalise.

‘Our mission is to work with schools so that while headteachers are trying to sleep at night after facing these unprecedented challenges, #RaisingAMillion cash will be going into school bank accounts so they can buy essential resources when they wake up’
