Please help the work of Christian Aid
“WE believe in justice. “Everyone is equal in the sight of God, yet we live in a world where the scandal of poverty, inequality and injustice persists. “We are a global movement of people, called together to respond in practical ways to alleviate suffering and expose and eradicate misuses of power. We support humanitarian crises and emergencies and work for sustainable and long-lasting change.”
These are some of the statements made in Christian Aid literature.
They may answer some of the questions raised when requests for financial support are made, and there continues to be a very positive reaction to these requests in Newbury area which has a very firm commitment through various activities throughout the year and particularly every May.
At this time the annual appeal reaches out to a wide audience via leaflets and through publicity via national media.
Our fundraising at this time of year presents a particular challenge, now that house-tohouse delivery and collection of envelopes is no longer physically possible for some of our fundraisers.
However, the need for funds continues and grows, and we hope that the generosity normally shown in this area will result in donations, some of which, where appropriate, may be Gift-Aided.
Where possible, envelopes will be distributed amongst friends and neighbours as well as through local churches.
Clear instructions indicate how and where these can be returned.
Information about other forms of giving is available through the Christian Aid website, where details of current projects in many parts of the world are described.
Please help us to continue Christian Aid’s work by donating if you are able to. Thank you, in anticipation. CAROLYN GREENWOOD On behalf of Newbury Christian Aid committee and fundraising team
