Vets check a baby sia­mang, or black-furred gib­bon, on No­vem­ber 1. The an­i­mal was treated at the lo­cal na­ture con­ser­va­tion agency’s of­fice af­ter be­ing res­cued from a villager. Sia­mangs, na­tive to the forests of Indonesia, Thai­land and Malaysia, are listed as en­dan­gered be­cause log­ging and agri­cul­ture are de­stroy­ing their habi­tat. They are of­ten sold in the il­le­gal pet trade.
