Challenging race will see runners raise hospice funds

-

»»RUNNERS from across the county will be lacing up their running shoes and taking on the Buckland Brewer 10k this May to help provide a lifeline of care to patients and families at North Devon Hospice.

Returning on Monday, May 27, the Buckland Brewer 10k offers a route through the heart of the Torridge countryside that mixes road running with winding trails and rolling hills. As well as soaking up the stunning views along the way, those taking part can also enjoy collecting their coveted medal upon crossing the finish line before tucking into a barbecue at the Coach & Horses pub after the race.

All funds raised from the event will help to ensure North Devon Hospice can continue caring for people now, in the charity’s 40th year, and beyond.

Will Slocombe, one of the organisers of the Buckland Brewer 10k, said it was great to be bringing the race back for runners in 2024.

“A friend and I started this very special race five years ago as we wanted to offer runners a course that’s challenging yet rewarding while making the most of our beautiful surroundings here in North Devon,” said Will.

“Whatever level you are, the Buckland Brewer 10k is a race for everyone, so do come and take part!

“Plus, with every step you take, you’ll be helping to raise money for North Devon Hospice – a wonderful local charity that offers vital care to so many in our community at a time when they need it most.”

As the charity marks its 40th anniversary, having the support of the Buckland Brewer 10k has never been more important says Georgia Bedgood, community fundraiser at North Devon Hospice.
