Secretary quashes British Legion closure rumours
LLANDUDNO Royal British Legion Branch is in rude health according to its secretary.
In a letter to the Weekly News Sharon Keatings describes reports of the branch’s demise as premature.
She also wrote to thank readers for their contributions to this year’s Poppy Appeal, which has raised almost £16,200 and rising.
“As your readers will be aware there have been reports in the local press lately that the Llandudno branch was in danger of closing,” she writes.
“I am pleased to be able to tell them that this is now not the case. In fact we are getting new members joining us daily.
“There is a new committee in place who will be working hard over the coming months to ensure the continuation of the branch.
“The branch will continue to hold regular meetings and look forward to seeing members, both existing and new ones there.”
One plan is to hold regular coffee mornings where ex-servicemen and women can speak with trained welfare officers about their issues, including what benefits they are in receipt of to make sure they are receiving the correct amounts of money.
Members can pick up membership cards on Sunday and Wednesday evenings from the Legion Club on Vaughan Street or by contacting the treasurer on: (01492) 203055
Anyone who needs further information about meetings, including dates and times, should contact branch secretary Sharon Keatings on: 01745 369811.
