Only Fools and pub crawls
AVIDEO of a trio of lads from Old Colwyn dressed up as Only Fools And Horses characters - complete with Robin Reliant, has been watched hundreds of thousands of times online.
More than 40 men in total took part in the festive pub crawl on Saturday in various outfits.
None however could upstage a home-made Robin Reliant, complete with Del Boy, Rodney and Uncle Albert (in the boot).
Ian Jones, a self-employed joiner, was the mastermind behind the extravagant prop and started work on the Robin Reliant roughly five weeks ago.
The 36 year old said: “The videos had something like 330,000 views, it’s crazy. I’ve been getting friend requests from all over the country.
“We dress up every year and this year we thought it’d be great to do Only Fools and Horses.
“We started work about five weeks ago, it probably took a total of five days work but it was spread out.
“It’s made out of wood and metal and a chopped up bike. But it has lights and everything.
“I always say with fancy dress it’s the props that make it. And we still can’t stop laughing about it.”
Ian started organising the annual pub crawl for other self-employed people in the town.
He said: “It was about 10 years ago and we realized there was no Christmas do for the self-employed so we started one.
“And then seven years ago we started dressing up for a laugh.
“It’s just gone from strength to strength. This year for a change I thought we should do groups and pairs so people don’t feel left out.”
Costa Yianni, who runs Yianni’s fitness in Old Colwyn, can’t believe how well the video has done on Facebook.
He said: “It’s gone crazy. I put it up on Sunday night and I just kept getting notifications.
“When I saw how crazy the Robin Reliant was I had to film him and put it on Facebook.”
Costa, who dressed up as The Furies from The Warriors, said Ian had outdone himself this year.
He said: “Every year he gets better but this year it was something else, he was getting car honks and everything.
“You can just see how well it’s doing on Facebook, people love stuff like this.”
Ian added the Robin Reliant was now in a “top secret” location and blueprints have already been drawn up for next year’s effort.
