Outten to compete in same team as legend Farah
FORMER Colwyn Bay AC runner Georgina Outten is set to compete in the same Great Britain team as double Olympic and World champion Mo Farah next month.
Outten and fellow North Walian Charlie Hulson have been selected for the Great Britain and Northern Ireland team for the Great Edinburgh Cross-Country International on Saturday, January 10.
Together with Farah, Outten and Hulson will compete against teams representing the USA and Europe after they both impressed during the European Championships in Bulgaria earlier this month.
While Farah has conquered the world, Hulson and Outten are in the early stages of their interna- tional careers and helped Team GB top the medal table at the European Championships in Samokov nine days ago.
Birchfield Harrier Outten was making her GB debut in Samokov, and the 18-year-old was a member of the team which won gold in the U20 women’s race.
Maureen Singleton of Colwyn Bay Athletic Club won the over-70 women’s title in the North Staffordshire Cross-Country League, which reached its conclusion in Leek earlier this month.
Colwyn Bay AC host the Twin Piers 10K road race (from Llandudno to Colwyn Bay) and 3k fun run on Saturday, January 17. Entries at www.colwynbayathletics.org.uk
