At Moelfre’s new lifeboat station winch cables have now been installed, commissioned and load-tested, and slipway trials are expected to be carried out later this month. A few tickets remain for the Llandudno Lifeboat Annual Ball at St George’s Hotel on February 27; for ticket enquiries contact suedavies5711@gmail.com or 07816 958145. After subsequently passing through the Menai Strait she left Caernarfon on Sunday to continue her long passage to the small port of Dielette in Normandy. Passing by further offshore last week was Irish Ferries’ ‘Ulysses’, returning to the Holyhead-Dublin service following overhaul at Cammell Laird, Birkenhead; passing in the other direction was the RN frigate HMS ‘Portland’ (F79) en route Plymouth-Liverpool.
