Tough run pure Hell

-

LAST Saturday six Mysteruns of Abergele journeyed down south to take part in the Brooks Hellrunner event.

It takes place at Longmoor military training camp near Bordon Hampshire.

This race is not for the fainthearted; the off-road trail run is what it says – a Hell Run.

The course is 11 miles of mud/ bogs, Lucifer’s lake is 300 yards long and up to six feet deep and there are also the hills of hell.

This year’s race attracted over 1,500 runners.

The lakes and bog were frozen over at the start, but this did not deter the five Mysteruns who braved the sub-zero temperatures.

First home was the impressive Richard Borne in an excellent time of one hour 43 minutes.

Not too far behind was John Humphries in 1–55.

Next home was Richard Marriott, doing his first Hell Run did not disappoint with a splendid time of two hours nine minutes, only a short distance behind.

Richard’s sister Lucy Marriott, who could not train for the last four weeks because of an injured ankle, completed this very tough run in a brilliant two hours 28 minutes.

Also tackling his first Hell Run was Ed Baskott-Oram, who clocked 2–49.

A big thank you was expressed by the club to Sharon Marriott for her fantastic support over the weekend.

The annual London Marathon Trip organised by the Mysteruns of Abergele is running again this year.
