Drunk mum in charge of child
A SHOP manageress called police and stopped a drunken foul-mouthed mother leaving with a child in a pushchair, a court heard on Tuesday.
The 26-year-old mum was placed under a twelve months community order with supervision and alcohol treatment after she admitted being drunk in charge of a child in Llandudno town centre on December 20. The town’s magistrates also told her to pay £145 costs.
Prosecutor James Neary said :”There’s no suggestion the child was distressed or neglected.” But the mum was in no state to look after the youngster.
Defence solicitor Andrew Hutchinson said social services were involved on a voluntary basis with the defendant. She deeply regretted what happened. The child can’t be identified.
