Junction all revved up for Trophy test

-

LLANDUDNO Junction are all fired up for their biggest game of the season to date this weekend when they travel to Spar Mid-Wales League outfit Penrhyncoch in the last 16 of the FAW Trophy (1.30pm).

Junction are running a coach for supporters to Ceredigion on Saturday which is due to leave the Arriva Ground at 9.30am.

Anyone wishing to travel should contact a club member for further details.

Junction have announced that the Flyover Ground has been re-named the Arriva Ground following a sponsorship agreement with the wellknown transport company.

Club chairman Simon Wright said: “For the club to continue and develop we need the support of local businesses, and we are extremely grateful to Arriva for their support.”

On the field, things continue to flourish for the Welsh Alliance League Division One side.

Junction remained in second place after last Saturday’s 3-0 win at Llanrwst United.

All the goals came in the second half at Gwydir Park, John Blundell, Jamie Jones and Bryan Roberts on target.

Also in Division One, Glan Conwy took an early lead through Kyle Robb at home to runaway table-toppers Holywell Town.

Tom McElmeel equalised before the break and added a second on the hour to secure a 2-1 win for the Wellmen, who are 14 points clear.

Kinmel Bay were impressive 3-1 victors at Llanberis, Danny Abbott, Kieran Ellis and Danny Campbell with the goals.

This followed a superb 4-4 draw for Bay at home to Holywell last midweek.

Kinmel thus became the first team to take points off the Wellmen, who had won 14 in a row.

In Division Two, Mochdre Sports pipped Pentraeth 4-3, Scott Lawrence, Tom Clark, Adam Henley and Craig Wilson with the home goals.

Pentraeth had led 3-2 with Cirrig McGonigle nabbing a treble.

Penmaenmawr Phoenix were beaten heavily 5-0 at Meliden.

In Division Three (Reserves), Glan Conwy were beaten 3-1 at Blaenau Amateurs, while Colwyn Bay v Llanrwst United was postponed as the visitors could not raise a team.
