Buckley is returning

COLWYN BAY will target a first league double of the season when they face play-off contenders Hednesford Town at Llanelian Road on Saturday, writes Tim Channon.

The Seagulls won 2-0 at Keys Park in October and new manager Gus Williams will be hoping to chalk up his first points since taking over from Frank Sinclair a little over three weeks ago.

He was left frustrated by last weekend’s game at Bradford Park Avenue being called off due to snow and ice on the Horsfall Stadium pitch, but is pleased with the way training has been going.

The squad had another session last Saturday after the Bradford game was called off and the manager said: “We trained well all week and now we need to put the work we’ve done on the training pitch into practice on grass in a match situation.

“The players have responded positively following the defeat at Barrow. The atmosphere is upbeat and everybody is keen to play and start picking up some points.”

Saturday will finally see on loan defender Michael Wilson making his debut after delays with his international clearance.

Midfielder Tom Buckley will also return to the starting line-up after re-signing from Salford City.

“The players coming in will strengthen and add to the ability already in the squad and although that means inevitably some players will have to drop out of the starting eleven, those players have continued to train well and the spirit in the squad is everything that you would expect at this club,” said Williams.

Goalkeeper Chris Sanna has also recovered from the back spasm that forced his substitution at Barrow.
