ST GWYDDELAN’S CHURCH: The Holy Eucharist is celebrated in modern language (bilingual Welsh/English) every Sunday at 9.30am. The Church supports the work of the Blaenau Ffestiniog Food Bank. GWYNEDD HEALTH RETIREMENT FELLOWSHIP: Aberconwy branch’s monthly meeting was held at the hall of the Llandudno Baptist Church, West Shore on Friday Jan 30. Ms Helen Morton from Conwy Borough Council gave an in depth explanatio­n of the complexiti­es of ‘Welfare Rights’. A question and answer section followed this very informativ­e talk. February’s speaker Mr Brian Lewis presents The Ivor Novello Story, ‘Musically Speaking’. LLANDUDNO FRIENDSHIP LINK: Last Friday, members played Brian Boorman’s “Bag Whist”, where small items were exchanged in a chaotic manner. Tomorrow’s talk “Promoting theatre production­s” will be by Richard Jones of Venue Cymru. LLANDUDNO AND COLWYN BAY HISTORY SOCIETY: The next meeting will be on Tues, Feb 10 at 7.15pm in the Town Hall. The talk by Mike Headen is an exploratio­n of place names, both old and new, so that we can understand the history of the places where we live. Non-members are very welcome (contributi­on £2.50). Free tea, coffee and biscuits are served at all indoor meetings. ROTARY: Mike Clutton opened the meeting on Tues Jan 27 by introducin­g a guest of Brian Davies, Gordon Mackie and the speaker Rev Philip Barnett. Philip’s son Tim has Relapsing and Remitting MS. To raise funds Tim’s parents embarked on a 2000 miles round trip from North Wales to Lands End, to John O Groats and home again. This trip, the Moggie Run, was completed in a Morris Minor. He described in detail the route, stopping off places, accommodat­ion and people met. The journey was achieved at a very low cost and raised £8,600. The vote of thanks was given by club Secretary Garth Mann. LLANDUDNO WI: Next meeting will be on Feb 11 with a Demostrati­on Talk and Taster by Wiltshire Farm Foods as well tasting samples. Last month the WI had a Special Luncheon complete with Birthday Cake to Celebrate 30th years on the WI’s founding. Meetings are held at Craig-y-Don Community Centre on the 2nd Wed of the month at 2pm. On the following Wed members will have a Craft and Board Game afternoon. Guests and New Members are welcome. Thanks to all who performed on the night and to Mrs Gwenda Evans who planned the event, also the Lions are purchasing a defibrilla­tor which will be placed in a central location.
