Club of the week THIS WEEK: Llandudno FC Supporters Club

-

WHEN and where was the club formed and who by?

The club was formed by myself (Iain Dyer) and Craig Thomas. It is totally voluntary and it’s something we felt was lacking. We have a Facebook page which we use for club news, advertising games, rallying the fans and basically just interacting. We have a couple of people, Neil Sheldon and James Parry, who help us run the page which is a great help.

So far we have set up a few away trips for fans, subsidised by the Supporters Club, and this has been well received by the football club and especially the players who have said it gives them a boost to see us actively trying to increase the fan base. WHAT are club’s aims?

Our main priority at the moment is to raise funds via raffles on matchdays in order to pay for the travel as much as possible. We have been putting on 17-seater minibuses recently but we are aiming to get bigger coaches in time, but in order for us to do that we will need to be guaranteed numbers every trip as it is quite costly. IS the club for all ages?

The club is open for all ages, and we can be followed on Twitter and Facebook, (details at end). We are looking into setting up a membership for next season, this will bring benefits such as discount on refreshments and we are hopefully going to get some local businesses on board that would offer a little discount when you show your card but that is still in the ideas stage right now HOW do you raise funds?

This is the big thing for us. We do the matchday raffle every home game. We have sourced prizes from local businesses, mainly meals for two and that kind of thing. We have had help from people associated with the club with this especially Mike Smith, but we are running out of prizes now to use so if anyone has anything they can donate please don’t hesitate to get in touch via the page or on my e-mail which will be posted below.

We have a few more ideas such as a stall at the Llandudno Annual Extravaganza and also bigger ideas we are going to be discussing with the club soon which could hopefully bring in some big funds in order to keep up the work we have started if we get promotion next season which is looking likely now. WHEN is the date of the next away match you will be travelling to?

Our next trip away is to Caernarfon Town on Saturday, February 21. We have arranged a 52-seater coach from Alpine Coaches to take us, and charging £5 a head and we will subsidise the rest of it. This match is going to have a big say in the title race and it’s great we are able to take a coachload over. This coach is now fully booked but if anyone pulls out we will post details of available seats on our Facebook page. WHEN do Llandudno FC next play?

We also have a huge game against Conwy Borough coming up at home on Tuesday, February 10, and we are hoping for a massive crowd of both home and away fans. If it is like the away game then it will be a cracker.

Tonight (Thursday) there is a friendly fixture against FC Nomads of Connah’s Quay with a 7.30pm kick off. HOW can people find out more on Llandudno FC Supporters Club?
