Eirias to host a marvellous double treat

-

PARC Eirias is bracing itself for a cracking rugby union double header this Saturday.

RGC will take on Narberth in a Swalec Championship clash at 4pm before Wales and England do battle in an under-20 international, kick-off 7.30pm.

Tickets are available from Venue Cymru and Colwyn Bay Leisure Centre, prices £15 seated, £10 adult terrace and £5 concession terrace.

RGC supporters who cannot stay and watch the international game can e-mail RGC@wru.co.uk after this Saturday’s match with their name and address, and in return they will receive a voucher for free entry to RGC’s next home league fixture versus Cardiff Met on March 28 (£5 in value).

To gain the free entry you must bring the voucher, Wales U20s match ticket and a form of ID to the league game on March 28.

Meanwhile, RGC vaulted up to fifth in the Championship last Saturday with a hard-fought 41-22 victory at bottom side Tondu.

RGC battled both the elements and a committed and feisty Tondu side who made a mockery of their current league position by competing throughout the 80 minutes.

The home side opened the scoring when their scrum-half slotted over a penalty.

However, RGC looked the stronger of the two sides in the opening period, particularly in the tight, and they scored their first points when a penalty try was awarded.

Although the pitch looked to be getting heavier almost by the minute, RGC looked to run the ball at every opportunity and were rewarded with a rapid hat-trick from Richard Hopkins and a try from Afon Bagshaw, making it 29-3 at the break.

Playing against both an ever-increasing wind and uphill, the visitors knew they would have to maintain their standards in the second half and although Tondu scored 19 points, further away tries from Tiaan Loots and Josh Leach making the game safe.

James Lang landed two conversions for the Gogs and Lewis Barker added the other.

This was exactly the sort of game RGC might have struggled in a couple of years ago, but they had all the answers this time.
