Same pattern of behaviour

-

A WOMAN given a suspended jail sentence three years ago for harassing her nextdoor neighbour has been given a similar punishment for behaving in the same way towards her new neighbours.

District Judge Gwyn Jones, sitting in Llandudno, told Margaret Parry: “It appears that the same pattern of behaviour is starting again.”

Parry, 58, of Bryn Defaid, Rhos-on-Sea, was found guilty after a trial last month of assaulting David Scrivens, father of her neighbour Janet Mason.

Prosecutor Tracey Willingham said that Mr Scrivens had been taking his grandchildren home on November 11 when Parry came out of her house in her dressing gown and started shouting and swearing at him. She lunged at him as he sat in his car, and her cigarette burned him on the chin.

When interviewed by the police, Parry denied what had happened but Mrs Mason, having heard the noise, had recorded her comments.

When told that Mr Scrivens had been burned, Parry said: “Has he? Oh dear.” She said she had had “a few” to drink.

She claimed Mr Scrivens had been harassing her, but Ms Willingham said there was no evidence to support her claim.

Parry was given a 90-day prison sentence suspended for 12 months, and ordered to carry out 180 hours of unpaid work. She must pay Mr Scrivens £240 in compensation, as well as court costs of £600 and an £80 surcharge.
