So tight at the peak of Coast Division A
CHAMPIONS Conwy A lead the pack in Division A of the North Wales Coast Bowling League, but only five points currently separate the top six.
Conwy were 8-4 home winners over Rhos Park A last Saturday, Ian Hughes and Darren Williams joint best victors for the hosts at 21-10.
Julie Bray and Roger Wilson were both 21-18 winners for the visitors.
Min-y-Don are second after a fine 8-4 success at Abergele, Craig Richardson top block on 21-10 for the Old Colwyn outfit, Jason Jones 21-7 for the losing home team.
The visitors finished 6-4 ahead on games and edged the aggregates by just two chalks to secure the bonus.
Llandudno A went down 7-5 at Llanfairpwll after drawing 5-5 on games but missing out on the aggregates.
Trevor Bates (21-11) was Tudno’s best performer.
Mark Parry romped to a 21-1 triumph and there were two 21-0 walkovers as Llanrwst whipped St Asaph 10-2.
Michael Pritchard also recorded an emphatic 21-4 success.

Colwyn Bay RBL ended Caernarfon’s eight-match winning run in Division B in some style with a 10-2 caning of the Cofis.
Carl Roberts (21-2) and Bernard Goodhead (21-3) were outstanding performers for the Legion, Jim Bancroft (21-6) and Alun Evans (21-9) also single-figure merchants.
Legion lie third in the table and are within striking distance of the summit.
Craig-y-Don edged a 7-5 verdict at Mochdre Park A, John Bentham 21-7 for the visitors, David S Jones replying with a 21-6 card.
Penmaenmawr A enjoyed a 7-5 decision at Dyserth, Keith Williams with a crucial 21-5 win.
Conwy B slumped 10-2 at leaders Fron Park, Brian White (21-17) and Jim Paton (21-20) their only winners, while Eirias Park were beaten 7-5 at Benllech after going down by a single chalk on the team totals, Carole Poynton 21-11 for the unfortunate Bay team.
In Division C, David Jones dominated at 21-3 in Penrhyn New Hall A’s 10-2 tanning of Rhuddlan.
Llysfaen were defeated 8-4 at Bethesda, Gwyn Evans and John Whittaker both prevailing 21-14.
Vardre A crashed 9-3 at Holyhead, despite John Cartwright’s impressive 21-3 scoreline.
Ian Wilson also did well at 21-10 and David Pritchard nudged a 21-20 verdict.
Other scores: Copperfields 9 Sunny Rhyl 3, St Asaph B 7 Bala 5.
Division D leaders Old Colwyn took the spoils 9-3 at Vardre B.
Terry Byrne shone brightest for the visitors at 21-7, Clive Wooff, Joan Simpson and Sylvia Roberts all finishing up 21-9 winners.
Margaret Dickinson excelling at 21-2 for the hosts, whose other success stories were Cathy Savage (21-18) and Ian Savage (21-20).
Llandudno B edged past Penygroes 7-5.
Marylyn Lee was best winner for Tudno at 21-10, Tony Bladen (21-11) and Denise Sumner (21-12) also ending up comfortably on top.
It also finished 7-5 in Kinmel Bay’s favour against Penrhyn New Hall B.
Bay topped the aggregates by just two chalks, Andrew Thompson’s 21-5 helping a lot, as did Jim Lester’s 21-9 triumph.
Pat Nickolls took the honours 21-6 for Penrhyn, who also benefited from a 21-0 walkover, ensuring the end totals were so close.
Llanrwst B returned from Rhyl with a 9-3 verdict, John R Jones standing out with a 21-6 result.
Other Rwsters winners were: Gwynfor Williams and David Parry (21-13), Arthur Evans (21-14), Rob Astles and David Williams (both 21-18) and Rowena Williams (21-19).
