Leaders Gele outscore Rydal Penrhos

TABLE toppers Abergele beat rivals Rydal Penrhos in the latest round of matches in the Spillane and Co Wealth Management Colwyn Bay and District T20 Evening Cricket League.

Clean striking from Abergele’s Gaz Edwards helped the home team score 145-8.

In reply, Rydal Penrhos lost quick wickets and slumped to 21-4 with two victims apiece for Rana Das and Dave Moulson.

The Rydal rebuilding began with a fine 44 from Josh Leach.

Jack Sissons and Tim Cashell kept the scoreline ticking nicely, but the run chase proved too much and they fell nine short of the Abergele effort.

Mochdre kept up their challenge up with a convincing win over Llandrillo.

James French (53 not out), Adam Jones (39) and Glyn Tapp (31) saw the Black Marsh Fields outfit post a huge 183-4.

The college team attacked bravely led by Joe Horton (54 not out) and Anwar (32) but their spirited reply finished on 148-4.

In Division Two, Pen Y Bryn fell to a brilliant spell of bowling from Will Mills (5-12), see- ing them slump to 74 all out against leaders Robertsons.

A knock of 41 off just 21 balls from Andy Raho suggested a rout, but Darren Dentith took three quick wickets and it took an unbeaten 22 from John Danks to see Robertsons over the line.

North Wales Police dished out a cricketing lesson to the Penrhyn Arms.

Ross Stevens took a remarkable five wickets for seven runs, but Jordan Kane responded with 60 for the Arms, helping them to a respectabl­e 123-8.

The Police chased hard with Duncan Midgley (52 no) and Stevens capping an all-round performanc­e with an undefeated 47 to take them home with five overs to spare.

Ysgol Bryn Elian bowled out Carmel for 108 despite an excellent 53 not out from Rhys Griffiths.

Only skipper Tim Abraham (18) could support Griffiths in the face of excellent bowling from the Bryn Elian attack.

In response, Liam Herbert’s unbeaten 52, supported by Kodey McMaster and Dan Millar, took the school to a comfortabl­e victory for the loss of just two wickets.
