100 new jobs as historic hotel reopens after £6m refurbishment
AN HISTORIC hotel in Llandudno is set to reopen following a £6m refurbishment.
Over 100 new jobs are being created in the town following the refurbishment of two hotels in the seaside town.
The Llandudno Bay Hotel is reopening on Friday. The newly rated four star hotel is located on Llandudno’s East Parade.
The hotel – formerly known as the Regency Royal Hotel – was purchased in December 2014 and the work was promptly started to bring the hotel up to a four star standard. The redevelopment programme will see the old hotel reemerge as a 61 bedroom chic boutiquestyle hotel, with a 90 cover restaurant, champagne bar and lounges and function space for over 150.
At present there are only three other four star hotels in Llandudno – the Imperial, The Empire and St George’s Hotel.
As well as the Llandudno Bay Hotel & Spa Mbi Consulting Limited, based in Halifax, has also bought the Belmont Hotel, which used to be owned by the Royal Blind Society (RBS). It will be renamed as The Heritage Hotel and will open in November.
Mbi have raised the capital needed for the refurbishment by selling each bedroom to investors. The hotels are being marketed on the Properties of the World website and according to the website nearly 100% of the units have already been sold, starting from £40,000 for a room at The Heritage and £55,000 for The Llandudno Bay Hotel & Spa.
Chris said: “The redevelopment of The Belmont Hotel will see another 25 new jobs within the town.”
“I think Llandudno provides very good investment as the town scores so well on Tripadvisor and despite the obvious competition there was a gap in the market for higher end properties in the resort.
Open to both guests and non-residents, the hotel’s Forster Restaurant will serve a variety of dishes with locally sourced ingredients, whilst The Woodhouse Bar will offer offers cocktails and champagne.
