Min-y-Don still lead the way after draw
MIN-Y-DON hold a one-point lead at the North Wales Coast Bowling League Division A summit after last weekend’s 6-6 draw at St Asaph.
Steve Dace did best for the Old Colwyn table-toppers with a 21-8 card, while Scott Todd also impressed at 21-10.
Llandudno A outscored Bangor City 8-4, Peter Warren recording a 21-7 triumph, Alan Dugdale and David Williams both 21-9.
Abergele went down 9-3 at Beaumaris, Paul Welburn heading the away effort at 21-9.
Second-placed Rhos Park A whipped Llanfairpwll 10-2, evergreen veteran Ivor Jones top block on 21-6.
Mark Whiteley (21-10), Chris Slater and Julie Bray (both 21-12), John Davies (21-14), Steve Lawley (21-15), Roger Wilson and Geraint Jones (both 21-16) were the other Rhos victors.
Llanrwst A edged a 7-5 verdict at Denbigh A.
It ended 5-5 on games, but the Rwsters finished seven chalks up on the aggregates and thus claimed the bonus.
Three-time Welsh Merit champion John Bailey stood out for the visitors at 21-4.
Joseph Pritchard (21-10), Daniel Jones (21-11), Anthony Bailey (21-12) and Michael Pritchard (21-20) were the other plus marks on the Llanrwst sheet.
Champions Conwy A crashed 9-3 at Blaenau Ffestiniog, despite a fine 21-7 showing from Peter Jones.
Steve Jones (21-11) and Darren Williams (21-13) were the other winners on an otherwise bad afternoon for the title-holders.
Conwy B fared much better in Division B as they hammered leaders Caernarfon 10-2 at the Castle green.
Jim Paton was by far the most impressive home bowler with a 21-4 card against the highly-rated Dion Pritchard.
Craig-y-Don beat Colwyn Bay RBL 8-4, Mike Beard 21-13 for the winning side and Dave Roberts at 21-11 best for the losers.
Penmaenmawr A slumped 8-4 at home to Rhos Park B.
Ronnie Wilkinson shone brightest for the visitors at 21-5, Kieron Roberts the hosts’ finest on 21-17.
Eirias Park lost out 7-5 at home to Fron Park, who topped the aggregates by seven chalks.
Ivor Gwyn Williams was the leading performer for the home team at 21-6. Other score: Benllech 8 Dyserth 4. Penrhyn New Hall A reached the peak of Division C after a superb 9-3 result at Bala.
Margaret Peake was the most emphatic home victor at 21-4, Eryl Wynn Owen finishing 21-7 and George Edward Maccarthy 21-8.
Llysfaen were heavily beaten 10-2 at Prestatyn Highbury, John Whittaker (21-16) and Eilir Jones (21-18) the only away successes.
Other scores: Rhuddlan 10 Copperfields 2; Sunny Rhyl 8 Bethesda 4; Holyhead 8 St Asaph B 4.
In Division D, Old Colwyn remain well in command at the pinnacle following a 10-2 home drubbing of Grove Park.
Nonetheless, OC did not manage a single-figure winner, Terry Byrne their best at 21-11.
Llanrwst B hammered Vardre B 11-1, Brian Williams celebrating a 21-6 victory, Rob Astles 21-7.
Llandudno B came out on top 10-2 at neighbours Mochdre Park B.
Tony Bladen was the star turn for Tudno at 21-4, Roy Lea (21-8) and Eddie King (21-9) also doing well.
David Riley posted a fine 21-6 result for the beaten hosts.
