New recruits ready to take on Wrexham

-

COLWYN BAY will have the majority of their 11 new signings making home debuts in next Tuesday’s opening pre-season friendly against Wrexham (7.30pm).

Manager Ash Hoskin says everyone has been working hard in training and added: “They’ve shown they all want to work and all want to play. This is their first chance to show what they can do, so we are all really looking forward to the game.

“Both ourselves and Wrexham will have a number of new faces on show, so hopefully we will get a good crowd.”

Wrexham have listed this as a first team game and are expected to bring a strong squad with new manager Gary Mills unveiling some of his nine summer signings.

Summer arrivals so far include Kayden Jackson, Jamal Fyfield, Adam Smith, Cameron Belford, Lee Fowler, Adriano Moke, Dominic Vose, Javan Vidal and Sean Newton.

Main interest for Colwyn Bay fans will be new striker Chris Sharp, the son of former Everton and Scotland international Graeme Sharp, who has been looking good in training, and the return of former Seagulls favourite Luke Denson from AFC Fylde.

Head of recruitment Phil Staley is particularly excited about the signing of young midfielder Zac Corbett, who a number of clubs have been chasing, while other summer signings include ex-Chester and Telford wide man Robbie Booth, forward Tom Bentham from Stalybridge, former Rhyl defender Shaun Dowling and big centre-back Jordan Fagbola from Stockport County.

Goalkeeper Chris Sanna, however, is away on a pre-booked holiday, so Colwyn Bay are looking to bring in another keeper in time for Tuesday’s game, while new forward Harry Clayton also misses the game due to holidays. Adult admission is £8, and £3 for kids. Meanwhile, Colwyn Bay FC are looking for volunteers to act as stewards on match days during the new season.
