Zoo has best visitor numbers for 21 years

-

THE Welsh Mountain Zoo has had its best visitor numbers during the summer period for 21 years.

Some 76,000 people came through the gates at the Colwyn Bay attraction from June to August despite the disappointing summer weather.

Nick Jackson (inset), director at the zoo, said: “These are fantastic figures for us to reflect on.

“The weather can always play a vital role and deciding factor when people are considering a day out at the zoo but they have clearly been undeterred this year.

“There have been some great new attractions that have opened during the past year, as well as one off events. The launch of our new app and Immersive Technology Centre have undoubtedly been highlights.”

He added: “Moving forward we hope to build further upon this success and continue to create exciting opportunities for visitors to enjoy and experience.”
