CHRISTIAN AID COLLECTION: in Llandudno Town Centre took place on Saturday 19 and raised £355. The permit was granted to Mrs Janet Hughes as assistant Secretary of the Christian Aid Llandudno Committee and no expenses or payments were incurred in connection with the Collection. Many thanks to all our collectors and everyone who gave so generously.

PROBUS: The meeting on 16th September was to be a celebratio­n of 50 years of the Probus movement. Ken Simms had produced a fun quiz of new film releases and T V programmes from 1965 The pre luncheon grave was given by David Robinson and a toast to Probus was drunk at the luncheon Following the usual announceme­nts of birthdays, apologies and the answers to the quiz, Mike Hand, the treasurer, recounted some funny stories of a brilliant but somewhat eccentric colleague he worked with 50 years ago. He was followed by Ken Simms who had brought a veritable cornucopia of memorabili­a from 50 years ago. Using the initial letters from ‘sixty five’ (1965) he took the members through many of the things that as a 15 year old schoolboy that had excited him and captured his imaginatio­n.

ACTION ON HEARING LOSS: Is launching a new monthly support group for people who are deaf or have a hearing loss. The group will provide social activities to help people who feel isolated because of their hearing loss. Sessions will be run largely by volunteers, most of whom have a hearing loss themselves.
