CHRIS­TIAN AID COL­LEC­TION: in Llan­dudno Town Cen­tre took place on Satur­day 19 and raised £355. The per­mit was granted to Mrs Janet Hughes as as­sis­tant Sec­re­tary of the Chris­tian Aid Llan­dudno Com­mit­tee and no ex­penses or pay­ments were in­curred in con­nec­tion with the Col­lec­tion. Many thanks to all our col­lec­tors and ev­ery­one who gave so gen­er­ously.

PROBUS: The meet­ing on 16th Septem­ber was to be a cel­e­bra­tion of 50 years of the Probus move­ment. Ken Simms had pro­duced a fun quiz of new film re­leases and T V pro­grammes from 1965 The pre lun­cheon grave was given by David Robin­son and a toast to Probus was drunk at the lun­cheon Fol­low­ing the usual an­nounce­ments of birthdays, apolo­gies and the an­swers to the quiz, Mike Hand, the trea­surer, re­counted some funny sto­ries of a bril­liant but some­what ec­cen­tric col­league he worked with 50 years ago. He was fol­lowed by Ken Simms who had brought a ver­i­ta­ble cor­nu­copia of mem­o­ra­bilia from 50 years ago. Us­ing the ini­tial letters from ‘sixty five’ (1965) he took the mem­bers through many of the things that as a 15 year old school­boy that had ex­cited him and cap­tured his imag­i­na­tion.

AC­TION ON HEAR­ING LOSS: Is launch­ing a new monthly sup­port group for peo­ple who are deaf or have a hear­ing loss. The group will pro­vide so­cial ac­tiv­i­ties to help peo­ple who feel iso­lated be­cause of their hear­ing loss. Ses­sions will be run largely by vol­un­teers, most of whom have a hear­ing loss them­selves. The group takes place at Ty Ha­pus Com­mu­nity Cen­tre 2pm-4pm on first Tues of ev­ery month.
