Edwards aims to make an impact in Yorkshire

-

LLANDUDNO’S Matt Edwards will be among several North Wales rally stars who will head to Yorkshire this weekend for the penultimate round of the British Trails and Rally Driver Association (BTRDA) Rally Championship.

Rally Yorkshire is based in Pickering and takes in the famous forests of Dalby, Gale Rigg and Langton this coming Saturday.

The stages are known for their fast nature with long straights and tight cor- ners to catch out the unwary.

Edwards will feature strongly in his Swift Group backed Ford Escort Mk2, in which he dominated the historic and two-wheel drive section on the recent Woodpecker Rally.

“Our section of the rally features some night time stages and I always enjoy the thrill of driving in the dark, relying on your (pace) notes and those extra lights perched on the front of the car.” said Edwards, who will be joined by Paul Morris from Ross-On-Wye, who partnered the Welshman to last year’s second place on this event in the DMack tyre shod Escort.

The rally starts on Friday evening for the historic section, then the BTRDA runners will join the event on Saturday morning for 45, fast-paced stage miles before returning to Pickering showground for the finish.
