Borough lose to late decider

-

CONWY Borough slumped to a third consecutive league defeat when they went down 1-0 at Denbigh Town last Friday.

The Tangerines started the brighter but were given a warning of the Town threat when Kristian Pierce forced a good save from Christian Wright.

Conwy came closest to breaking the deadlock as they dominated the half, Andraes Alvarado latching onto a long ball but his half-volley was well stopped. The same player saw his free kick kept out.

Denbigh came out for the second half with a new-found purpose.

Wright did well to keep the scores level as he made a smart stop while off balance and Conwy also had Luke Douglas to thank as he made two goal-line clearances before Denbigh hit the foot of the post.

At the other end Tom Rowlands made a yard for himself before firing straight at the keeper.

On 85 minutes the deadlock was finally broken as Pierce received the ball on the edge of the box before firing home.

Late on, Conwy’s Jack Rowlands was denied by the home keeper.

The result leaves Conwy lying 14th with bottom side Buckley Town next up this Saturday at Y Morfa.
