ANATIONAL developer with a track record of multimillion pound redevelopment schemes has been chosen to help transform the future of a seaside town.

Muse Developments Ltd - whose showcase projects include Newcastle Quayside and St Paul’s Square in Liverpool - has been selected to partner Conwy council on the £25m regeneration of Colwyn Bay.

They will be tasked with providing new office accommodation in the centre of Colwyn Bay and to redevelop the Civic Centre building to the east of the town - which could be changed into a hotel.

Muse Developments Ltd. has been chosen following a competitive procurement process that attracted significant interest from national develop- ers and investors. The final decision was made by Conwy council on Tuesday morning.

Council leader Cllr Dilwyn Roberts said: “I’m delighted to announce the Council will be working with Muse on this exciting project.

“It’s been a very thorough process; we considered previous experience, financial and technical capacity, as well as evidence of partnership working, social values and other statutory obligations. We were determined to find the right development partner to help us achieve our goals.”

The town has seen a number of major regeneration schemes in recent years from Porth Eirias on the promenade to the Parc Eirias stadium.

It the hoped the economic regeneration will continue with new office accommodation on Coed Pella Road in the town centre - bringing hundreds of council workers into the town.

It could potentially replace up to 13 existing offices and reduce the Council’s accommodation and carbon footprint.

A spokeswoman said: “With an investment of over £25million by Muse’s investor partner M&G, this new development is a key part of the Council’s commitment to regenerate Colwyn Bay town centre.”

Cllr Roberts, added: “Bringing people into the heart of a town, brings vitality, footfall and spend.”
