Don’t miss Free Wills Month

-

ACCORDING to a study released by Dying Matters (a coalition to promote public awareness of dying, death and bereavement), people in Wales are less likely to have written any sort of advance care plan than anywhere else in Britain and less than a third of people have written a will.

Writing a will allows you to plan what happens to your money and possessions after you die. It’s also a good way of letting people know any wishes you have about a funeral, or how you’d like to be remembered. If you die without a will, your possessions will be allocated according to set rules, rather than according to your wishes. You can also mitigate inheritance tax by making a will.

To promote the importance of making a will, St David’s Hospice has again teamed up with David Jones (Solicitors) Ltd, Llandudno.

During October, David Jones Solicitors will provide a simple will free of charge for people aged 55 and over who wish to participate in the scheme.

Kathryn Morgan-Jones, Business Development Officer for St David’s Hospice states: “Free Wills Month is an easy way for people to ensure their loved ones are looked after. The scheme also provides an opportunity to support the Hospice by making a lasting gift in their wills. This can make a huge difference to the hospice’s patients and their families at no extra cost to you.”

Kathryn added: “Those taking up the offer are under no obligation to leave a gift to the hospice.”
